  Clark S Dale is the identity assumed by Death when he decides to conduct business with mortal man. His countenance alone would shatter man's sanity so he must do whatever he can to portray himself as one of them. Death is a very curious being. As mankind is intrigued by the "afterlife", Death is envious of what "life" is like.
  At times, he will reveal himself as Clark to a human in desperation and draw up a contract to grant them their desire in exchange for their eternal soul. He has held a twisted logic that if he collects enough souls, that he will inherent the ability to feel, taste, hurt and many other things that he has only been witness to. These dealings must go unnoticed to his Scythe brethren, as it would break the "Law of Balance". He is careful enough to ensure he only deals with select humans who souls will not be noticed if missing.
